Gear Review - Pixapro S-Type SMART Speedlite Adapter Bracket (V2)
After a few years of using the version one of this Bowens S-Mount bracket for my speedlites and Pika 200’s (Affiliate) I have come to rely on them for wedding, event and location work.
It is great for holding a speedlite and also allowing you to use Bowens fit modifiers such as softboxes with them also. They will also hold the Pika 200 so you have a bare bulb option for your larger modifiers, it is however a tight fit.
Whilst it has been rock solid, it is limited in terms of lights that can be used when you look at what is on the market these days. ( Round head speedlites, round head fitment for the Pika 200 and the Citi 300, Citi 400 Pro). That said if you only have traditional speedlites in your kit then you are good to go.
Enter the new version of this bracket which is much improved and most welcome.
The benefits as mentioned in the video above are a step-less swivel head ( great for placing tight grid spots and it will take the round head speedlite, Pika Round head as well as the larger Citi 300 Pro and 400 Pro lights making it far more versatile if you have the various light models in your kit.
This means I can now take my Pixapro GI01 round head speedlite which gives a really nice pattern of light from it’s round head and fill umbrellas nice and evenly.
At the moment I don’t have any of the larger lights from Pixapro to show them in use with the bracket but trust me it work’s great with them.
If you are looking to move away from traditional speedlite swivel brackets and would like to open the world of S-Mount modifiers to your photography then grab a couple of these brackets and add them to the kit.
Any questions give me a shout.
Thank you for reading.
