Back when I started my business I had ideas and plans for what I wanted the studio space to be used for beyond client/personal work.
Studio hire was not really part of that plan but it has somewhat organically become part of the business. They say that things that kind of just happen are often better than the versions planned to the N'th degree, I can somewhat agree.
So here we are in May 2018 and I am now advertising that the studio can be rented/hired.
The way that this has come about is not as simple as I have this space and hiring it out is another revenue stream, it has come from more than that.
Studio hires started with a couple of people asking about it after workshops and studio events, then word of mouth happened and now I make it a point to make the space accessible to the photographers with in the studios Facebook Group and to the clients I provide training for.
What the studio gives them is a familiar space that is comfortable and easy to work in and support on hand from myself should they need it. It's nice to see it start to provide a service that I had envisioned when starting the business even though it's not in the exact way I had thought.
The studio is a base for me to work from, my space to create for me, for my clients and it has also become a space that can help and support photographers who are just starting out or need help with a technique of problem they are facing... that is really rewarding.
Not to go too off topic here. (ok may be a little)
It is far too easy to become overwhelmed in this game with every little detail. You start to over think and worry too much, then before you know it you feel like you have taken a wrong turn and are 500 miles away from your plan with zero rubber left on your shoes for the long walk back.
That's why it's important to stop, take a moment and think about what you have done, whats been achieved and take some time to compare it to your original plan/goal... you will probably find out that you are not that far off after all.
I have a long way to go with the business and a ton of work to do but you know what, I can buy new shoes and continue on that road called The Plan / Goals.
The studio has been doing what I wanted it do do from the get go which is to help others and provide a space for clients & my work. All of this has to support the business to grow/continue but I feel like it's in a good place regards helping others and providing services like (Hire/Training) that offer value and solid service. I need to remember this more often.
Back to the studio hire info.
Over the last week I have put a page together on this site with all the information people will need regarding the hire of my studio.
Studio Hire Information Page
Improvements have been made inside the space and further improvements are planned. The next job for me to tackle is the outside and to remove a desk from the office to make room for either storage, a video set or a small corner shooting area that backgrounds can be easily switch out on. I am still trying to decide on the office space but I do know what one of the desks will stay in case a client required a desk to work at.
Once it is all complete I will update the hire info page and produce a video to show the space.
If you are looking for a space that is comfortable, friendly, well equipped and manage by an experienced photographer who can assist on your shoot if required... look no further.
Thank you for reading.
