At the end of January I got together with Jenny Eve and Charlotte Brookes to shoot some fashion images in the studio. We all had a great time and we are all really happy with the images that resulted.
I did a few things different on this shoot, mostly to try a few things and to make it easier to work as a team whilst shooting on set.
The first thing was tethering, whilst I do tether it tends to be for still life or product work rather than portrait or other shoots but I think that will change. It was great to have images to preview on a large 27" monitor and also have someone else watching the images and looking for things that need fixing (Hair, Makeup etc) making it much easier to work as a team on set and amazingly I didn't trip over the tether cable once.
Possibly the most daunting and new was recording parts of the shoot with a Sony Action Cam mounted to my Canon 5D2 for a first person perspective video. This is new to me but I have seen it done before and have to give a nod to a fellow photographer Clay Cook for the idea, thanks for sharing how you go about rigging up the video camera Clay. As you can see the Action Cam can controlled via wireless and app on tablet (or phone). You will find the video at the end of this post and I will say it's a new experience shooting like this but I do plan to do more and refine the video edits as I go.
It felt good to be creating images in the studio again after the Christmas/New-years break and I want to say thank you to Jenny and Charlotte for working with me and allowing me to geek out a bit with the video camera set-up.
The next time I record a shoot I will capture more footage to make it easier to make a shorter video .. say what!? ... the more you have to work with the easier editing a final piece together is and yes I found out the hard way this time round.
Some BTS images of make-up and hair and images from the shoot.
Here we go... the 1st Person BTS video.
Thank you for reading.
