If you shoot with off camera flash you have probably heard of the Godox AD200 or in this case (from Pixapro) the Pika 200.
Also, you don’t have to look very hard on Instagram to find an image lit with one or a few of these little lights, but why are they so popular? Other than them being quite possibly the best small location lighting kit on the market today (IMO) they offer a lot for not a whole lot of money in the grand scheme of lighting gear.
You get 200ws of power which is about equivalent to 3 speedlites, TTL, HSS ( High Speed Sync) and all in a portable lighting kit that is at home in the studio and on location.

Q & A - Should I Upgrade My Camera ?
I get a fair few questions via social media and some time I feel that it is best to answer in a video so the questions and answer can help others rather than jus just the original person asking.
Before we get to the video answer, let me offer a few points of advice.

When I started in photography years ago I used speedlites ( still do ) and whilst great due to portability they lack power for a studio environment. My first speedlites were Younnuo YN460’s and whilst they spat out light, in all honesty they were garbage. I later moved to YN 560’s and they were not much better, so I picked up a set of Canon 430EXii which a far better light than any of the YN units.
I ran the Canon 430EX II’s for a few years and added a Canon 600EX-RT later. The location kit has change some and that will be covered in another post.
Next came the studio lights. For a few years I rented local studios for clients work before opening mine so I have experience with a fair few brands (Bowens, Profoto, Various others).
